Victoria
Thurlow is the principal consultant for Thurlow/Associates. For more than 15 years, she has provided development counsel, planning and grantwriting services to many agencies including Para Los Niños, Huntington Hospital, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Covenant House California, Los Angeles Unified School District and Sunny Hills Children's Garden among others. Her firm has provided counsel to numerous organizations engaged in annual and capital campaigns, and has assisted in implementing both direct-mail campaigns and special events.
In the area of
constituent relations, Ms. Thurlow has directed a variety of campaigns,
and has experience in campaign planning, newsletter and annual-report
production, public service announcements and media relations. In
this regard, she has assisted such clients as Methodist Hospital
of Southern California, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Huntington
Hospital, Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center, Para Los Niños
and others. |
Ms. Thurlow regularly trains board members, executive staff and internal development staff to improve performance in a competitive funding environment. She has also been involved in conducting development audits and in creating comprehensive fund-development plans for a variety of organizations. Clients in this regard have included People In Progress, Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, Sunny Hills Children's Garden and UMMA Community Clinic, for example.
Before opening
her firm, Ms. Thurlow served as director of development and marketing
for The Greater Los Angeles Partnership for the Homeless. Prior
to that, she was director of fund development and public relations
for Assistance League of Southern California. In both positions,
Ms. Thurlow oversaw all aspects of development research, planning,
fund solicitation and recognition, as well as public relations.
Ms. Thurlow has
a master's degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin.
An award-winning writer, she has taught English composition at both
The University of Texas and at California State University, Northridge.
She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals,
a former president of the International Association of Business
Communicators/Los Angeles and a former director of the Greater Los
Angeles Press Club. She is also a member of MENSA.
Ms. Thurlow is
known for her creativity, tenacious commitment to quality and determination
to succeed. Her background and experience, along with unexcelled
